While looking for a pitching coach, we were introduced to Coach Ryan Christenson about 2-3 years at the recommendation of a mutual friend and his son, who played for Ryan in high school. As part of our introduction and even before we started working with him, he was kind enough to suggest I take some video of my son to share with him help initially analyze his mechanics and note areas we could help him improve. Ryan's approach makes students feel at ease and as a result, our son (as well us as parents) immediately felt comfortable with Ryan, developing a great, working relationship and friendship that has only strengthened over our time with him. Coach C is one of the best things that?s happened for my son's young baseball career. First and foremost, he has related to him on a personal level and found a teaching technique that gets through to my kid not on just pitching performance, but also fielding and more importantly, how to be a good teammate and leader. Additionally, Coach C thoroughly evaluated and adjusted my son?s throwing mechanics to ensure that his elbow and shoulder are protected and provided exercises to encourage proper muscular development to aid in arm/shoulder stabilization and deceleration. Ryan began working with our son when he attended a local camp. He has gone on to do several group and individual sessions. The two have developed a relationship unlike any other coach/athlete bond I've seen. Having watched him teach lessons to several others, I feel confident in saying other parents probably feel the same. Ryan takes the time to truly get to know each player, their strengths/weaknesses, how they think/feel about baseball and their performance goals. It's not unusual for him to drive to watch a game on an off day, just to see one of his players in a game situation. We've watched our son make tremendous strides in mechanics and velocity all while strengthening his knowledge and love of this great game.
